His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in a titah conveys appreciation to His Excellency Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation for hosting the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit. It has been over a decade since His Majesty's last visit to Russia – in which His Majesty recalls memories of previous visits and exchanges, including His Excellency President Putin's visit to Brunei for the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in 2000, and his virtual participation during Brunei's ASEAN Chairmanship in 2021.
Earlier, His Majesty attended a Bilateral Meeting with His Excellency Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, which was held in Kazan, Russian Federation. Brunei Darussalam and Thailand established diplomatic relations on 1st January 1984 and enjoy close and friendly relations in various fields including trade and investment, education, health, defence, culture, food security and people-to-people exchanges. Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During the Meeting, His Majesty and His Excellency discussed on bilateral cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Thailand in the areas of trade, food supply and people-to-people exchanges. His Majesty also extended an invitation to His Excellency the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand to undertake a visit to Brunei Darussalam.
